Working on one of my ratsleds engines today a 399 ROTAX ..
TODAY i came across a tuff set of exhaust flanges!
Completely seized! THEY WOULD NOT BUDGE even after i Soaked the hell out em with penetrating oil and then i used the torch on em for awhile!
STILL NO LUCK! thought HEAT forsure that would work! BUT NOT A CHANCE!!
SO ok its TIME TO PUT THIS PIG IN ITS PLACE~!
GET THE snipe out for leverage
"a piece of pipe on the end of the pipe wrench fer leverage!",,
So anyways the flanges finally gave in basically couldnt take the punishment i was putting them through...
THe First flange tore close to the jug wall!...
Which was fine because now i could soak it more and heat it more you could see a gap in between the old flange and the threads on the jugs exhaust port.,,, That was my my window of opertunity!
i could barley wedge a flat head in there and pry away alil at time slowly
I JUST KEPT WORKING AT IT NO WAY WAS THIS PIG GONNA BEAT ME!! LOL
So tapping away at it as i went i kinda folded the old flange inwards in its self..
i could see i only had about 1/2 inch to go before completely cut ,,
three good swift cracks WITH THE HAMMER AND CHISEL the exhaust flange let go and i pulled it out!
No prob after getting all the exhaUsT Flange threaded end out of the JUG!
i THEN used another set of flanges off another rotax and threaded them into the jug to retap /repair any damage i did with the chisel through the process!
THE FINISHED PRODUCT READY TO GO BaCK TOGETHER
I KNOW IT AINT PRETTY AND ALL BUT IT WILL RUN AGAIN!
GOT TO GET THIS ENGINE BACK TOGETHER BEFORE THE SNOW
FLYS
HURRY QUICK WHERES THE SILICONE?
I have no new GASKETS here lol
