episode SLOW AND EASY AND STINKY!!!!
Well went out the Safari ratsled today to see if the lube has penetrated this stuck sled motor or not?
,,
I had to see if i could get it to budge yet,,
iT was killing me the fact OF a motor in a sled that i got that DOESNT run!!
Thats one thing i cant stand if i get sled or any
unwanted forgotten machine no matter what shape its in
i WILL try to make it run ..
ANYWAYS Just by luck and a bit of force and not alot of brains
i tryed to move the clutch by HAND thats when I THOUGHT I FELT IT MOVE a lil !
NO WAY IT DID MOVE!!
Not alot but EVER SO slighltly!!
it did move!
More and more a few millimters it turned under some more force!!!..
So to me thats a BIG RIGHT ON !!!
This DANG RATsled MAY run again!!!!!!
All Excited i quickly Grabbed the Ratsled super lube and the Liquid Wrench and soaked it good again and again as i rocked the clutch back and forth slowly and carefully as i listened and felt for rough areas,,
Any movement is better than none!!
when it comes to a siezed up engine!
FINALLY ONE COMPLETE REVOLUTION!!!!
I dont think it was as seized up or as bad as I thought or as the bad as the last owner thought either! Or i wouldnt be mine now lol
,ALL I KNOW IS I GOT IT UNSEIZED!!!! YEEEEEEEEEEEEHAWWW!!
maybe it was just a lil dry seized or something who knows!!..
You know i Sure would like to have one of those fancy lil cameras you snake into the plug hole and look around in at the cylinder walls and at the pistons and stuff!
just to see whats happeing in there for just for shits and giggles.
This had to be one of the easiest stuck motors i did in whilE!
Cause i have other old motors that had to sit 5 years in soakin in diesel and THEY still had to be pounded with BIG HAMMER to get the pistons moving@! but thats another tale..
anyway i got it to turn over onE full revolution RIGHT ON~~~!!!!
SO I Put more XXX RATSLED super lube to it !
And kept spinning it over and over in a RAT RAGE by hand !@!!
Then I got brain wave and decided to use the pull starter pulled it a few times instead lol
That home brewed ratsled super lube sure WORKED good!
i mix that stuff up for times like these saves on the Cans of WD40 AND SPRAY LUBES,,,
! I learn that by trial and error and from a old motorcycle mechanic
i once knew who showed me what he would mix up its a simular solution he would use for his bikes and other stuff he would work on..,,,,,
STUFF WORKZ GOOD!!
Well i guess its TIME TO GET STINKY FOLKZ!!!on to --->CLEANIN THE CARB FOR ME!
Looked in at the carb and the boot they sure didnt make things easy to get in at on this sled..,,,not like my nice lil elans!
Tryed the throttle too its also seized up!
So carefully and slowly i tryed to take out the carb
gently prying at the lip of the cold hard rubber intake boot ,
i could see the air intake rubber is old and brittle ,,
I HAVE LEARNT THIS the HARD WAy
When playing with old sleds and stuff if you dont want to replace a bunch of stuff and try and reuse the old stuff , You have to be very carefull and slow and steady...Kinda like a surgeon sometimes you even have to warm up parts before tearing them apart..Or you rip it up ect ect,,,
Take the time and slow down think as much as possible for me that hurts LIKE HELL lol!
The Carb finally came out of the boot slowly its cold out u know,,,
But the cap is stuck because the slide piston in the carb is siezed@!!FFF%$#@#$%!!
so i gently adjusted the throttle cable cap adjustment in as far as it could go into the cap That gave me enough room to unscrew the cap and get in at the slide and unscrew the two tiny brass phillips screws that hold the cable to the slide,..
\just so i could take the carb out to work on it and clean it!!SHEESH@
OH BOY!!! WAS IT GUMMED UP GOOD!! The slide piston was stuck in the carb bad!,,
so i sprayed the hell out of it ! and took out the 4 bowl screws at the bottom...Then i Tapped the bowl with the end of the screw driver a few good rapps it cracked open to FIND A bunch More varnish and gummed up carb parts !
man this carb is a mess! lookz greeseY!
SO I GET THE CARB CLEANER OUT AND What left i have of a CAN OF MARINE MERCURY POWER TUNE!!!
THAT STUFF WORKS GOOD I FIND it works awesome ON STUCK RINGS too.. it breaks up the varnish in carb quite!..
Took the carb almost right apart except for the idle circut jet
Just couldnt get it out so i ran a piece of squirrel stainless steel 24 gauge snare wire through it,..,.ANd did the same to the main jet..
best i could do.. Put the carb back together and installed it back on the motor...
I did take notice of the oil injection when i pulled off the carb
and it is still amazingly hooked up on the sled and it functions!!..
So i marked the cable and threads so when i put it back together it was the same setting on the cable,,,Can adjust it later if i need to but why it again exactly set at what it once was,,
WILL THIS RAT SLED RUN?
