Hi there im writing because i really like old sleds and have a few too... heres the problem i want to try to start racing some of my old sleds ect.. but i know their must be a few easy things i can do to help it go faster ? Or race better??\
In your opinions what the most important thing in snowmobile racing?
Traction? Power? torque? or handling? higher fuel octane? tuning the carbs to respond better Clutch tweaking?
Sure would like to hear some old school advise from a few vintage guys that have did some racing back in the day!
thanks icebooger
Oh i have added a poll at the top to this question let me know what you think click on one of the factors you think is the best for a old race sled...

A good belt helps alot and having the track and chain case working AND SET PROPER WILL MAKE a huge difference!!

good traction sounds to be a very important factor to me so my vote is for a good track on your old sled..!

If I could only pick one I would say handling, most of the time the sled that goes the fastest around the corner will win, but if you want to win you need the total package or a lot of luck.
Engine size don't really matter , you should be in a class where all engines are close in size.
High octane fuel and pipes are only important if your engine needs them most sleds will not benefit from higher octane.
