Just bought a used Ski doo Citation with a 248 Rotax single cylinder in it ,,,This smaller sled even has electric start the sled looks not to bad its complete! some scatches in the hood ect the track 100%! So i just cleaned the carb and she fired right up and idles well.,. But i did notice the oil injection is loose.. A buddy advised me to unhook it and just mix my gas 50:1 Dont know if i should or not? How reliable is this oil injection system? Hate to wreck a nice motor because it fails,, or keep it? thanks iceboogers! Kinda like this one in this you tube video below,, but red

If i was you i would leave it alone i had plenty of old sleds with oil injection and only one i ever came across didnt work and that was only cause the other owner unhooked the cable! The Mikuni oil injection systems are bullet proof!
but thats just my 2 cents,,

I say unhook it ya mixing gas is a lil more messy but sure beats doing a moto rebuild! unless of course thats your cup of tea.

I would remove it personally - takes nothing to take it off, and the peace of mind is worth it. Especially since I totally destroyed my old 81 citation engine many years ago when it failed.
I am a stickler for using 40:1.. in ALL my 2stroke engines. 50 is fine for most of the newer engines as long as you use a good oil.... which leads me back to why I always use 40 lol

Nothing wrong with mixing gas and at least you know your getting the oil to it..100%
my vote is for taking it off.. but have had some work well with the injection to..

I think Mixing the gas 100% be safer and all but whatever you decide to do.. If so Just make sure to plug the lil oil injection manifold nipples,, if not plugged well or proper It will lean out your engine and cause a no oil effect OR OR OR....... this happens

I do away with all the oil injections when I fix up a older sled. They all well fail in time, beat the problem before it beats you. But I would mix at least a 40 to 1, even 32 to 1 is better.

I had a old yamaha enticer 300 never missed a beat original oil injection in it.. If you cracked the thottle the skis would lift no sweat!
My friend had the exact same sled but he unhooked his oil injection His would foul plugs more and less response .,,So i have to go with keeping it original as possible..

I know a few old Iron dogs that like using 20:1 in all their old sleds!!!
