I'm gonna go out on a very strong limb and say that you have a 1971 lynx 292 chassis that someone has altered with parts from a puma that had a kohler 399. The 71 lynx 292 did not come with those "beach cruiser bars", the shock mount spindles, the black plastic running board foot pads. The 71 lynx 292 came with silver hood vents, only the 71 lynx 295 JLO came with the black hood vents. The 71 lynx would have come with a "mill finish" bumper with a solid black stripe too.
The only other option is that you have a 1970 puma with a kohler 399 chassis, which is not likely since there were only 38 of them produced!
I suppose I could go on and on about what I see in the pics, but I think I've got you going in the right dirrection on what you have. With all that said...I love what you have found and I'd absolutely love to freshen that thing up!
If you have any questions on that sled just shoot me a P.M. And I'll tell you what I can!

Awesome looking sled! I'm sure it will be more enjoyable then the old kraken Yea, what is up with that chain tensioner? Do you have the chain case cover for it?

Awesome looking sled! I'm sure it will be more enjoyable then the old kraken Yea, what is up with that chain tensioner? Do you have the chain case cover for it? That sled is not suppose to have that kind of chain tensioner. Whoever put that thing on there spoiled the bulkhead because they had to drill a hole where there should be no hole and the cover will not fit on over that pulley! It looks like they used a panther chain and lynx gears!

Yeah you could plug the hole I suppose. The chain tensioner is actually a "cam" style, where the secondary shaft and bearing are are located, but like I said the guy used a chain that is too long, so the "cam" style tensioner could never work eventhough it looks to be functional.

The Two Bolts at the top in between the chain case and secondary drive clutch IS THE ANSWER all you have to do is loosen them and then adjust the secondary drive by rotating it foward or back.. the whole secondary is on a cam system but infact is the cam..,, Adjusting it forward or back will lessen or lengthen the space between the two drive gears in the chain case,,= takes up the tension or lessens it,, i think the previous owner didnt understand the function of the two bolts...when i loosen them and look at the sprockets i noticed the cam shape behind the spocket that when the light bulb went off..it looked oval.. but then again the not original chain used here? might be a little to long...If not im getting rid of the home made HUGE Pulley chain tensioner..ASAP!
