Keep GOING! You'll get it running, and here is some inspiration that I witnessed at a local red-neck bike show I attended with my then 9 yo daughter. This was the entertainment, instead of a band I guess. Hey, the beer was cheap! They use these lawn tractors in demolition derby's, against each other. They have them geared up a bit. This was around 11 AM, and these boys were well into the sauce at that time 1st wheelie attempt second wheelie attempt squint, and yes you are reading that correctly on the side of the tractor. Show me your tits. and yes, the beer was cheap. Watery, but cheap.

OK update I GOT a used 8hp BRiggsy motor from a old Roper ride on tractor. BUT Now notice the shaft end is a bit different on the 8hp compaired to my fords original 7hp briggs . Infact the 7hp looks thicker with a very thick key way..! Bit of a problem,,, The 8hp briggs shaft looks like it tapers down in two different sizes large to smaller,, ITS the Same length and right size near the top of the shaft,, but smaller at the bottom and to make the pulley fit its doesnt want to work,,..! when i try and put on The original belt pulley it has alot slop.. any suggestions? how can i make my original ford pulley fit proper??? or is it even possible? Cause i hate changing stuff like that and i looked every where with no luck for a used 7hp briggs nope cant find any.. im in rush cause i can hear the dang grass growing as i type..Ha I need this lil sweetheart to run and cut grass again! ok heres the prob IF i just use the 8hp belt pulley the belts dont line up withj the cutter deck and it will be on all the time and would have to get a smaller deck belt ect.. really want to do that... Here the two pulleys and shafts so you can compair.. The blue one is the for the 7hp and longer spaced double pulley is the 8hp roper.. So was hoping to swap the original smaller pulley on to the 8hp...

UPDATE JUNE 27th 2012 FORD RAT TRACTOR MISERYWell FOLKz I think i Found a Solution to the Pulley and crankshaft size problem i was having on the ford rat tractor ... A 7/8 to 1icnh brass adapter sleeve! Now ONe other problem is the sleeve needs a keyway groove in it.. So i filed one in to it Sheesh it fits very well now and the original pulley now has no slop when fitted on the shaft.... Also did Notice when i fitted the sleeve on the end of the shaft it then created another slotted keyway space on the shaft!!.. And guess what a old briggs fly wheel key fits in there perfect.. it should work!

**UPDATE JUNE 28th 2012 Cleaning and setting the points Ford 70Well im back at it again! Got the old 8hp Briggsy on the bench for a cleaning before i try and paint it.. I was gonna just put it all back together because it did have ok spark when i tryed it on the bench.. But something told me to pop off that flywheel off first since i have the motor already out and its on the bench. Have a look. YUUUUUP IT was filthy and rusty! Kinda like me lol anyways cleaned it alil noticed the points were pitted in the center real bad So i filed the hell out of em AS flaT and as level as i could with my lil points file.. The lighting coil/ stator and the inside of flywheel was very rusted up too! So i put the steel wool to it and with a bit of scrubbin it was clean! SEE WHAT MOMMAS BRILLO PAD CAN DO lol:thThumbsU NEXT onto a bit of painting Good ole TREMCLAD BLUE IS good enough for me... TURNED OUT NOT BAD I MUST SAY FOR THE 5 bucks i spent on paint! And considering i aint no painter lol

thanks wcasey5 i try bud i try ;D OK folkz i finally got out of the dawg house again! And the sooner i get to fixing my lil ford 70 tractor the better! So later on yesterday afternoon i quickly slipped out the back door so i could spend a lil time on it And hopefully with out Big Momma noticing me gone!!!! The way i see it is well since i spent 5 bucks on painting the motor already.. Soooooooo...... Why not see how much more i could paint on it? Just with what i have left over and with what i have laying around the shed.., Digging around in the shed i found a near full can of tremclad white!:thThumbsU So i started to clean the chassis and sanded the fenders and wheels a lil.. YEP here we go again! I know i Know folkz white is probly not the right color for the fenders on this lil sweetheart but its all i got ,,,, So i use what i got.. YA I KNOW WHITE AINT THE RIGHT COLOR but its close enough.. Got the body cleaned and sprayed it took one can of blue for the motor and body but the body i notice could use another coat in spots Anyways i had to fit the 8hp motor in its a lil bigger and the engine mount holes dont all line up ,,, Two holes are perfect the front two , but im gonna have to drill two new holes... Wheres my drill when i need it???god dang it! 1 2 3 8 9 7 HAd to fit the motor in to mark the two holes i need for the rear... 4 6 5 DANG FOLKZ I ALMOST FORGOT TO PAINT THE HOOD !! AND NO PAINT LEFT! SO its off to the Store for another can of tremclad blue and timmies double double for Momma!

LATER on THAT DAY..... Got the hood taped off with frog tape and this tape is susposed to be the best tape for masking stuff off ,,ITs not suspose to run and it says it makes a good clean edge.. I guess i got the batch that was no good! I still had a few runs,, Good thing im like a big kid who Cant wait to open a present before Christmas because if i would have it would have dryed like that!... So i got 2 think fast before it drys a Q~TIP and some carb cleaner to the rescue! no sweat... STAY TUNED THIS LIL HILLY BILLY TRACTOR IS GONNA GET A FILLING lol HA!

ITS TIME TO given this lil HILLYBILLY'S GAS TANK a filling! Upon further inspection of the gas tank on the used 8hp B&S engine i have replaced in this lil tractor, i see one corner of it has a good sized crack.. So how am i gonna fix this? Hot glue? fiberglass resin? Expensive tank reapir kits? ...lol NOPE Looking through the my sled parts shack, i have a whack of this loctite product called METAL MAGIC STEEL PUTTY EPOXY a friend gave me this stuff along time ago.. Its almost the same as JB WELD but about 10 times cleaner to use... I have used it on other metal fuel tanks ,boat props, cylinders, heads, striped threads, even on my River Rat metal canoe! And it worked great but i have never used it on a plastic tank..\ SO i will give it shot! You see the crack in this plastic tank is not as serious as it looks.. Why? because it is at only the very top corner so if you dont fill right up full your ok... but i will give it a filling anyway.. By rights i should try and use the original fuel tank set up but its metal and full of rust... Mind you thats nothing a inline fuel filter and some small ball bearing or ammo from a bb gun couldnt solve... But that will be done at a later date considering i dont even know if this motor runs yet~~!,, I have been told it runs fine but i have heard that before

DAY FOUR THE TRACTOR SABBATH DAY Werkin on the cutting deck TODAY! Well folkz to be honest im gettiing a lil scared,, I know when i open up this cutting deck to look at the pulleys its gonna be one hell of a mess! so i build up the courage to take the top belt cover off.. And yep i find rusted up pulleys afew rat nests and near siezed cuttin blades! So now its time to get down and dirty on it! I scraped the hell out of it ...cleaned it up as a good as i could! SMOOTHER THEM IN SUPER RATSLED PENETRATING OIL~~ Then i put the XXX RATSLED SUPER penetrating oil to it!!! Each bearing is smoothered with my special mixture of oils which i mix together for these purposes.. which works very well for any seized bearing for any seized cylinder for most oil penertrating applications .. Mostly cause im to dang cheap to buy other oils So Now folks i will let you in on sum if you want.,, ,If you want to Buy a small bottle of my own home brewed XXX SUPER RATSLED PENETRATING OIL XXX ,just let me know and i will send one out to you.. THe cost would be fora small bottle 14.99 Free shipping handling RIGHT to UR DOOR ANYWHERE TO USA and Canada only... Paypal Payments only! thankyou.. Anyways back to the cutting deck... The pulleys were so rusted that they were out of round in areas..SO i had to chisel them back to shape !! i had to knock out big hunks of rust on the pulley surface and then sand them to a nice rounded shape again, so that i could get a few more miles out this original belt which didnt look to bad,,../ Next time im gonna take a impact gun and get the socket on the cutting blade nut and spin it with out the blade on of course as i sand it and work the pulleys... So it works like a lathe as i sand the surface of the pulleys round again..
