OK VINTAGE SLED HEADS PREPARE YOURSELF for SOME SERIOUS EYE CANDY!... I Was surfing AROUND the web when I came across this OLD MONSTER RACING 12 CYLINDER SKIDOO! ROTAX POWER! IT WAS CALLED THE X4R The X4R was a speed machine that Ski doo built in the early 1970's to try and set world wide sled speed records. The X4R had 4 X 776 Blizzard Free Air motors in it. IT was twin tracked and from what i have read it had alot of trouble in with track and motor sync issues.. CLICK HERE SEE EVEN MORE PICS OF THE X4R SKIDOOheres a web link to even more amazing shots of the X4R AND BEFORE THE X4R was the X2R PREVIOUS IN IN SLED racing HISTORY They had their best speed run success with the X2R which was a twin engine single track sled. Yvon Duhamel set the world speed record on it at Boonville, Ny in 1972 at 127.43 MPH. The record stood until 1983. 1972 was the same year that Yvon won the 500 mile cross country race from Winnepeg to St. Paul's. The only Canadian to win the event. The picture here is the X2R with Yvon's team mate Gaston Ferland seated on it. This history tends to give you a perspective on how technology has advanced so much in some ways but so very little in other ways.
