hi ok just to let you know i have used normal orange/bronze High temp RTV silicone with no troubles yet,
everyone will say no! no! no! to RTV silicone of course...
But here you go i got 6 years on a 440 rotax motor i rebuilt with no problems yet! ..No crank leaking problems at all..
Make sure when you pick out the silicone the heat range is high enough and is oil resistant and then just a ***very fine super thin layer of silicone on both crank case halfs on both sides
***make sure its spotless clean before you apply it..
and let both sides of the crank halfs dry a lil before putting together..
You will be good to go..!
best i can advise or some guys use yamabond or hondabond or motoseal1
all will work excellent and even high temp RTV Silicone!
by the way works well on outboard motors too
Yep good old High temp RTV silicone to the rescue..
Moosemeatthe reason your not suppose to use silicone heat treated or not the fuel mixture will eat the silicone and it will fall off in chunks and get in your bearings get into your combustion chamber needle bearings and so on it is not recommended to use silicone for this reason silicone and gas does not mix and if anybody says they use it all the time are just getting lucky i have rebuilt my motors that are ruined by some one using silicone as a top and bottom halve seal
