MOTOR:305 ROTAX F/C
CYLINDERS:2
SKID TYPE:Bogies
A while Back i pickup this nice old Olympique 300 Twin skidoo the previous owner
was a very cool cat and gave me a very good deal on it along with another old sled he basically wanted out of his yard!..
I also repaired a sled hood for the owner that he needed repaired along with cash for the pair sleds..
Anyways this Jem in the rough of a sled needed to be cleaned up and tuneup abit like every other old ratsleds
i seem to get..
And thats how i get them and thats how i like em..
No complaints here!
Soanyways i cleaned the carb and tank i noticed the fuel pump and carb was broken
THe carb had one brass fuel nipple was pulled out of right out the carb and was still stuck in the end of fuel line!
Which was'nt to big of deal. I simply expanded the the return line brass nipple with a tapered small punch..
And i then tapped it half way back into the carb lightly,
But before driving it back in its original port in the carb
i added a small amount of Super loctite on the base to give it alil more holding power however the amount i expanded it was probly more than enough already,,
IT was a supertight fit air tight.
Even with plyers i would have hard time pulling it out again ok CARB FIXED!.
After looking at the original odd looking fuel pump that i never seen that type before the bottom plate was broken off it was plastic!.no way to fix it without a new bottom inlet plate.
SO i decided to try and use a spare elan mikuni fuel pump i had in the my old sledshed instead,,
With fingers crossed i hoped it would have the power and fuel flow it would need to the carb?? I pondered this for a while ..Then remember seeing a Tundra skidoo using the same one which was bigger than 250cc.. So what the hay it was worth a shot..
So after running a few new fuel lines and plugging off the primer lines and primer connections cause the primer was dryed up and no good of course....
I then primed the carb with fuel direct in the carb and started it..
Yep it started and ran but not good it would barely idle
but it would run not bad alil over 1/4 or half throttle..
So i changed plugs no difference it felt like it was really only running on one cylinder most time.,
SO it had to be the points i figured..
But in order to clean and file em properly the motor has to come out or the flywheel has to come off at least!
So i tore into it and pulled the motor.
When Looking at the flywheel i noticed a bit of oil when i took off the starter cup!
Just great i thought ok gonna need new crank seals too.
Ok
When trying to pull the flywheel that kinda stumped me for abit
i did'nt have the proper puller i thought,,
I do have flywheel pullers for everthing but the twin cylinder rotaxs motors
which on my part is not very brite. Not to have one considering,.,,
Anyways Heres how i did it,, The answer was right in front of me..
