Ok need a lil help I been looking Inside the shed and noticed two of my benched spare single cylinder snowmobile motors are stuck! I hope they are just dry seized maybe? What's the method to free / unseize these motors again???

Hi Snowgoon i would pull the plug and spray a lil penertrating oil in and down the spark plug hole or even some two stroke oil. Then i would look into the intake and in the exhaust ports give them a good shot too,,with a lil force i would try and rotate the motor turning the clutch not much though just abit if it moves even a lil bit thats enough,, Let the oil soak in a few days and try it again adding more oil ect and trying to turn it more once and while.. Once its free u may want to take the jug off to clean the piston rings up.. Other than that you should be good to go.. Generally a good shot of good penetrating oil and let sit for a few days does the trick if just dry seized..

If it's an engine that I know for a fact that has set up just from sitting then I will generally have good luck with PB BLASTER, but if it is an engine that I don't know the history of I generally just take the head off and determine what stroke it is on and where in that stroke it is. I guess I usually take the head of anyway because I don't have much patience and my curiosity takes over!

I bought a motor on Craigslist, "Good running Motor" 440/sa sachs twin $100
I got there to pick it up and it was stuck. I gave him $50
I got home and took the heads off to start oiling it.
It was Packed Full with chipmunk NUTS. Just 1 side.
I cleaned it out and had it running soon after.

Let me ask you this...was it at the very bottom of the stroke and the critter got in through the exhaust? Or was there no carb on the engine?

John i would oil it up good with a penetrating oil of your choice.. All the above ones will work.. And say after a week or two better yet a month in a warm spot I would then start trying to move the engine back and forth how to move the engine?? I would sit on the bike put it in gear first or second gear and then try and rock the bike forward in gear and back and so forth,.... I dont like using the kick start cause its hard on the kickstart hub/ mechanisms if and when the motor is totally stuck, Try that and when you get it moving spray the hell outta of it a few times letting it sit so rings free up.. Then do a oil change shortly after getting the motor running..
Best i can tell you

I have tried many different oils to try and unsieze old stuck motors on the farm, But a friend of mine said he was told to try and use a can of soda pop coca cola! So I gave it try and I have to say it works i used half can of Good OLD coke soda pop yep right down the cylinder and i drank the other half!! GOOD STUFF and believe it or not it worked good! Motor came free after a day or two! You don't leave it for weeks just a couple of days it will eat the rust right out of it! Ged
