hi all on this site I hope im posting my skidoo question in the right place here on the website? My problem is this i have a old 1982 Skidoo elan 250 single cylinder sled and it runs good and all. But one thing thats drive me crazy on it is i just cant seem to keep the exhaust nuts tight for long!! They always shake loose!and then the Elan gets loud and it gets a exhaust leak!! Im scared it may heat up my Ignition coil and burn it up, Cause the coil is just below the exhaust! Would anyone here have a solution or a remedy to this problem? Over and over i tighten those 13mm nutts over and over! thanks tilly

Well there are a few things I would try. I'm pretty sure those nuts should have a punch mark on them indicating they should fit tight to the point you should not be able to tighten then by hand. I would also be sure to use a good fitting lock washer. If the studs are long enough you could try "double nutting" them. Be sure all mounting points are also tight. Last but not least...if all else fails...once you have it all tight you could take a punch and buger the threads ever so slightly to keep the nut from backing out.
