hi to all on this site! .. Ok I just recently bought a small older vintage Evinrude kicker but its not running at all! i was hoping and planning on putting the lil kicker on my canoe for fishing! The thing wont run i have been pulling it over and over nothing happens im gettin PI$$ED OFF! A friend recommended this site he said if its a not running motor someone here will be able to help me fix it... So here i am if anyone whos into fixing old boat motors please could you tell me where i should start on this lil kicker? thanks chris aka canoenutt!

Hi Canoenutt nice lil motor u got there its a lil 2hp cool motor! Well first thing I would try is to see if u have spark on the plug ? Next if u do make sure your tank shut off valve is open and not all corroded.up with junk pull the line and see if fuel come out at the end of where it plugs into your carb if u got fuel & spark it should run ! If no spark try a different plug first if still no spark pull the fly wheel and clean up and inspect the coil ! They are simple well made lil machines and if properly maintained and looked after they will last years! And run smooth! Hope this helps and one other thing it's best to run those a lil rich about 40:1 or even a lil more!

hey thanks sledrat i check for spark i do have spark buts it weak any idea how i get at the points?

I would pop the flywheel off its under your pullstart housing by the looks of ur motor , should be a big center nut and then three small hole around it , those small three holes is for a puller four way puller dont use a puller with the arm like jaws the puller u need will use bolts that thead into the small holes on top of the fly wheel
